Paul Maloney was born in Wexford and graduated from NCAD in 1979. Always displaying great facility when using Oils, Acrylics or Watercolours, Paul has painted for pleasure for many
building a successful pottery business. In recent years, however, he has increasingly spent time honing his craft, attending courses and workshops including RHA in Dublin and devoting
more time to painting. He has taken regular trips abroad to paint and entered a number of international events, including Ireland's Art in the Open festival at which in 2005,
he won the Mayoral Award and in 2017, the winning painting at 'Paint Annapolis' in Maryland, USA.
Chiefly a painter in oils, Paul's paintings are colourful with strong contrast of light and shade creating drama and depth. His brushwork is bold, loose and decisive, directing the
viewer's attention to the focal point of his painting and creating a rich pattern of textures.
Previous shows include a joint exhibition ,'Paintings of Venice' at Pigyard Gallery with Tony Robinson and group shows during successive Wexford Opera Festivals at Greenacres
