Anne McLeod hails from the Cumbria but has lived in Ireland for most of the past 30 years. She studied languages at Oxford and has a PhD in German from University College, Dublin.
As a watercolourist she is self-taught. Although her native English Lake District has been inspiration to poets and painters for generations, McLeod took up watercolours in Australia where the striking effects of light and shade stirred an urge to paint. Anne exhibited in various venues in Queensland where she lived for 3 years.
Returning to Wexford in 1991, she has since exhibited regularly and won several awards for her work. Anne McLeod often teaches courses in watercolour painting and in 2000, she was elected to the Watercolour Society of Ireland.
While relishing the challenge of painting landscapes and skies, her delight is chiefly in small corners of the natural world and how the play of light breathes life into them.
